Fall 2012 Update

Sorry for the lost blogs. I had some major IT problems and lost all of the website material and updates from last spring on and had to rebuild the site. It wasn’t worth it to retype blogs. I have bee reminded the hard way about data redundancy. Thankfully most stuff had duplicates.
The fall ski season is going strong. The club had registration and the AGM in October and so far we are well ahead of last year for numbers. Now that there is snow on the ground it is easy to get excited about the upcoming season. We welcome Jamie Miller as the new head coach. He has past experience with coaching the TSR and welcome him back this year to run the on hill program. Dryland training has been underway since the start of October with up to three days a week. The kids are having a blast and don’t even know they are exercising!
The club hosted another Yuk Yuk’s night on November 23 to a sold out crowd. The snow storm stopped a few people from coming but a lot still made it for a two hour show by Martha Chaves and Christophe Davidson. People had a great time at the show and the big crowd means good financial shape for the club to start the season.
We are heading to Mont Tremblant for the pre-season camp from December 16-21 and have 13 members signed up. The snow conditions are doing OK at Tremblant and they already have as much open as they did at last year’s camp. Hopefully the weather holds and we don’t get a thaw.
Kamiskotia is set to open December 22 so we will get a few days of skiing in before Christmas then head full tilt into the Christmas camp. Our Boreal Cup race is scheduled for the Feb 3 weekend this year which is great since the snow conditions will be bullet proof.
Out at the hill we have replaced the TSR chalet carpet this fall and also finally got moving on building a start shack for the race season. We also received Trillium Funding this summer for use in upgrading our timing equipment so we are in great shape for races from an infrastructure perspective.
Everyone hope for a fantastic snow year!
